Financial Highlights for Q3 FY26
The New India Assurance Company Limited reported strong growth in key areas for the nine-month period ending December 31, 2025, despite challenges related to employee benefit provisions. Gross Written Premium (GWP) increased by 10.5%. Market share increased from 12.80% to 13.40%. Profit before tax increased by 62.5%. The growth was primarily driven by Health, Property and Miscellaneous segments. Total Income increased 14% YoY to ₹12,200 crore.
Wage Arrears Provision
During the period, a provision of ₹2,519 crore was made towards wage arrears and employee retirement benefits, which negatively affected underwriting results and overall profitability.
Investment Income
Robust investment income, supported by buoyant equity markets, largely offset the impact of the wage arrears provision. Operating expenses, excluding the wage arrears impact, were lower compared to the prior year.
Premium and Income Performance
During Q3 FY26, the company reported a Gross Written Premium (GWP) of ₹11,680 crore, up from ₹10,778 crore in Q3 FY25. For the nine months ended FY26, GWP increased to ₹35,555 crore compared with ₹32,186 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year, while full-year FY25 GWP stood at ₹43,618 crore.
Net Written Premium (NWP) rose to ₹9,678 crore in Q3 FY26 from ₹8,920 crore in Q3 FY25. For 9M FY26, NWP amounted to ₹29,326 crore as against ₹26,564 crore in 9M FY25, with FY25 NWP recorded at ₹36,315 crore.
Net Earned Premium (NEP) improved to ₹9,725 crore in Q3 FY26 compared with ₹9,033 crore in Q3 FY25. On a nine-month basis, NEP stood at ₹28,494 crore versus ₹26,061 crore in the corresponding period last year, while FY25 NEP was ₹35,368 crore.
Investment income showed strong growth, rising to ₹2,280 crore in Q3 FY26 from ₹1,732 crore in Q3 FY25. For 9M FY26, investment income increased to ₹8,599 crore compared with ₹5,695 crore in 9M FY25, while FY25 investment income was ₹8,034 crore.
Profit Before Tax (PBT) for Q3 FY26 stood at ₹367 crore, significantly higher than ₹116 crore in Q3 FY25. For 9M FY26, PBT increased to ₹824 crore from ₹509 crore in the corresponding period last year, with FY25 PBT at ₹1,034 crore.
Profit After Tax (PAT) was ₹372 crore in Q3 FY26 compared with ₹353 crore in Q3 FY25. On a nine-month basis, PAT rose to ₹826 crore from ₹641 crore in 9M FY25, while FY25 PAT was ₹988 crore.
