CESC Limited (NSE: CESC): Q3FY23 Results Out; Total Income fell 0.3% YoY

CESC Limited (NSE:CESC) is an Indian integrated power utility company that operates in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power in the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Rajasthan. The company is also involved in the retail electricity supply business, and it serves over 3 million consumers.

CESC Ltd, an Indian integrated power utility company, reported a marginal increase in standalone profit to ₹186 crore in Q3 2022 compared to the same period last year. Revenue from operations grew by nearly three per cent to ₹1,708 crore during the quarter. The company’s consolidated net profit declined marginally by nearly one per cent to ₹336 crore, while consolidated revenue from operations increased by nearly 11 per cent to ₹3,129 crore.

In the most recent quarter, December 2022, CESC Ltd reported sales of ₹3,129 crore, a decrease from the previous quarter’s sales of ₹3,913 crore. However, there was an 11% increase in revenue compared to the same quarter in the previous year, when sales were ₹2,826 crore. Expenses for December 2022 were reported at ₹2,633 crore, a decrease from the previous quarter’s expenses of ₹3,423 crore. This is also a decrease compared to the same quarter in the previous year, where expenses were ₹2,281 crore. Operating profit for December 2022 was reported at ₹496 crore, a slight increase from the previous quarter’s operating profit of ₹490 crore. However, compared to the same quarter in the previous year, operating profit decreased from ₹545 crore.

Profit before tax for December 2022 was reported at ₹414 crore, a decrease from the previous quarter’s profit before tax of ₹416 crore. However, compared to the same quarter in the previous year, profit before tax increased from ₹359 crore. Net profit for December 2022 was reported at ₹336 crore, a decrease from the previous quarter’s net profit of ₹319 crore. This is also a slight decrease compared to the same quarter in the previous year, where net profit was reported at ₹340 crore. EPS for December 2022 was reported at ₹2.41, an increase from the previous quarter’s EPS of ₹2.30. However, compared to the same quarter in the previous year, EPS decreased from ₹2.48.

In summary, CESC Ltd has reported a mixed performance in the most recent quarter, with some key metrics showing a decrease compared to the previous quarter but an increase compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
