Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company Ltd is an Indianinvestment managing company registered under the Securities and Exchange Board of India. The company was founded in 1994. Services include Life insurance, Health insurance, Vehicle insurance, Travel insurance Investment managementand Mutual fund. The company serves 26 countries. It has its headquarter in Mumbai, Maharashtra India.

Financial Snapshot

The Consolidated Revenue improved by 16% year on year to Rs. 23,633 Crore. The PAT shows an improvement of 51% year on year to Rs. 1,706 Crore.  The the consolidated revenue grew 18% year on year to Rs. 6,962 Crore. Profit after tax increased by 20% year on year to Rs. 450 Crore.  From FY17 to FY22 the  PAT,  CAGR  increased  25% per annum,  and nearly doubled profits over the last two years and tripled profits over the last five years.

The company shares a positive outlook for FY23.The company focuses on maximising value of active customer base of 35 million through acquisition, partnership and organically. The company targets to improve customer experience, optimise costs, and build robust and scalable systems. In Q4 the company has added 41 branches. It further  wants to expand to 320+ locations in FY23.  

Subsidiaries

Lending- The subsidiaries are as follows. The company focuses on lending. Overall lending increases 11% YoY to Rs. 67,185 Crore. In terms of lending, it has achieved a customer base of 3.7 million. For FY 22, the company has raised Rs. 15,900 Crore of long-term funds.

NBFC business- The overall loan book grew13% year on year to Rs. 55,180 Crore. In the retail, HNI and SME sector the loan grew 25% year on year basis. The gross disbursement increased 51% YOY and stood at Rs. 9,891 Crore. The net interest margin increased by 91 bps and is 6.25%. Profit before tax in this sector, reflecting a growth of 44% to Rs 1,487 Crore. The NBFC sector achieved a growth in return on assets at 2.3%.

Housing Finance business-The housing Finance business shows a stronggross disbursal at Rs. 1,310 Crore in Q4 FY22. The Affordable housing grew 39% to Rs. 4,510 Crores. The net interest margin of this sector is 4.24% it increased by 101 bps. Profit before tax in this sector is Rs 253 crores. The sector achieved return on assets at 1.90%.

Asset Management– Theasset management sector grew 9% to Rs. 3,07,409 Crore. The overall domestic AUM grew by 10% year on year, to Rs. 2,95,805 Crore. The domestic equity AAUM improved by 25% year on year. Profit before tax increased by  29% yoy to Rs. 895 Crore.

Insurance– The insurance sectorgrew 25% year on year, to Rs. 13,867 Crore. In the Life Insurance business the individual , First Year Premium improved 14% year on year to Rs. 2,212 Crore. The group business grew by 30% year on year to Rs. 3,223 Crore. Total premium grew 24% year on year, to Rs. 6,475 Crore. However the gross premium grew 24% year on year, to 12,140 Crore. The net VNB margin  stood at 15% in FY22,improved  by a 439 bps year on year. Profit before tax grew 15% year on year, to Rs. 175 Crore. The gross premium of health insurance business increased by 33% year on year to Rs. 1,727 Crore.  It has focused digitally with 98% policies issued digitally.

Other businesses: The General Insurance broking profit before tax grew 22% year on year to Rs. 86 Crore. Profit before tax grew 43% year on year, to Rs. 52 Crore.
