Insurer $CB reported a drop in 2Q16 earnings due to higher costs and expenses as well as catastrophe losses. Net income fell to $726MM or $1.54 per share from $942MM or $2.86 per share last year. Operating income of $2.25 per share, down 6.3% from last year. Operating income excluding catastrophe losses rose 7% to $2.91.
