$MRK's effective income tax rate for 3Q15 fell to 23.6% from 43.5% in the previous year quarter, while that for 9 months ended Sept. 30, 2015 rose to 24.2% from 15.8% last year. The tax rates reflect the impact of acquisition and divestiture-related costs and restructuring costs, partially offset by beneficial impact of foreign earnings.
