$AFL reported a decline in 2Q16 earnings due to higher benefits and claims, net realized investment losses, hedging costs, and loss from other non-recurring items. Net income fell to $548MM from $573MM last year, while EPS remained flat at $1.32. Revenue rose 2.8% to $5.4Bil, on stronger yen/dollar exchange rate. Operating EPS grew 14% to $1.71.
