$SYF's provision for loan losses for 2015 rose by 1.2% from last year. This was primarily due to portfolio growth, partially offset by improving asset quality trends. Its allowance coverage ratio (allowance for loan losses as percent of end of period loan receivables) fell to 5.12% from 5.28%, reflecting recent improvements in asset quality trends.
